On Thanksgiving I had the wonderful privilege of being asked by my friend Devin if I wanted to run the O'side Turkey Trot 5K with him. My friend, who Devin had payed the admission for, couldn't participate because of an injury and his race admission was up for grabs. At first I had to think about taking him up on his offer because the race started right after I would be coming off a graveyard shift at Dennys, but in the end I decided to come join him on the race. I am happy that I did!
Even though I was a bit tired coming off my shift, the race was exactly what I needed to put a bit of life into my Thanksgiving. We were also joined by my good friend Izzy, who is actually now one of my new roommates.
We all did exceptionally well on the race. Everyone preformed above expectations, including myself. I got in 440th place with an average mile time of 7:31, which is slightly below my usual pace of about 8:00-8:30 a mile.
I am so thankful to have shared this experience and to have been invited out to do this with my friends!
