Woke up: 7:30 am
Started walking 9:00am
Miles traveled: 18 miles
In the morning Charlotte made breakfast, she knew exactly how much a hiker eats. ALOT. She cooked me a big ol plate of eggs, sausage and toast.
She had to run, and I still had to fill up my water bottles and finish a steaming hot cup of coffee. She said that there was no rush, and to lock the door behind me! When she left me alone in the house I was aww struck. It is a beautiful thing to see and experience when a stranger puts that much trust in you. Wonderful!
Walked into my first state park in Indiana, Clifty Falls. Its the first state park that I had to pay to get into, cost 2bucks. The trail guide didn't use a specific trail in the park to get to the other side, so I looked at the trail map I received for a trail that would travel the length of it. Choose the only trail that said "very rugged".
Was pretty cool , traveled a creek bed across the park. I found a sweet tree vine that held me weight, swung around on it yelling like Tarzan, and got a cool view of a canyon from the top of it. I felt like a king of a jungle.
When I exited the park a storm came in and it was raining and lightning. I walked through it. Lady stopped to welcome me under hear porch while it was pouring, I took her up on it. Left soon after I looked at my directions and had an good idea for the next few miles. She came running after me with a sandwich in hand and a coke! Thank you!
Doug a few streets down saw me walking, he stopped me and checked if everything was ok and if I needed anything. He gave me a coke! Thank you!
Made my way into Hanover, where they have the oldest private college in the state of Indiana. It was nice, checked it out a little bit.
Continued down a road towards the Ohio river. Was off on some distant back roads. Saw a dude BBQing naked with a girl who was dressed in white.
Continued forward and asked a couple if I could camp it on their
land, it was cool. The lady even asked me if I needed anything while she took a stop into town. The biggest moon of the year shown this night, starring at in a field in the middle of nowhere was exactly the best way I could have ever witnessed it :-)
