The video posted to the right describes how I will be planning my path spanning over 5,000 miles across the United States. The planning model I use can also be applied to the Pacific Crest Trail and the Appalachian Trail.
Much of the information I used as a foundation to create this model of planning came from books written by Chris Townsend and Andrew Skurka.
I would like to note that its important to be thorough in planning a trip like this, but it also important to have a system that doesn't overwhelm the planning process and yet one that still provides enough detailed information in order to feel confident on the trail.
This planning model works for me, but it may not work for everyone in their own hiking adventures. If you are planning a trip I suggest that you discover whats best for you while using expert advice for a foundation.
