The last 4 days have been wild. Spent time hanging out with Hicks, Lucas, Ellie, Chase, Joe, Mica, Adam, and many other guys hanging out at the TKE fraternity house.
Most of the time was spent with Hicks, Lucas, and Ellie. We kicked it at the pool, went to a park, cruised around the city, checked out the school (USI), partied it up at the fraternity house, and went to local restaurants. It was a blast.
Hicks was an amazing host and made his shower available to me, allowed me to do laundry and even cooked me up some meals. He's a great cook. He didn't reveal too much about himself but he certainty showed that he was kind, strong, laid back, and independent. His family has been great to me, I can't thank them all enough.
Ellie chilled with us pretty much every day I was there. She is a pretty blonde slim girl who seems to fear mediocracy and instead strives towards being creative and original. She has a soul on fire for life with very few hang ups, complete with a light spirit and a zeal for living in the moment. She was very recharging and inspiring.
When hicks went to work out at the school, me and Ellie joined him on the campus. We ran around the school together like dingledoodies checking out the buildings and going into the rooms. We played a game on one of the black boards and shared some converstation, bonding while I sprawled out on the class room seats.
Later we danced carefree inside of Hicks living room as he showered up and got ready to go to the TKE house. She put on some music that I had never heard before and we grooved to the beat. She and I shook our bodies and we both put on a big white smile the whole time.
Music seemed to really speak to her, anchored into the songs she seemed to feel passionately about the beat and words. I think the strongest memory I will have of her is of us driving at a good speed down country roads, her head and body swinging left and right and my head nodding up and down with my hand pounding to the the beat outside of the car's window against the wind. I really felt her spirit, it flowed into mine, I was smiling like mad, my zeal for life was shared, and I didn't feel so alone in my passionate loving madness of the world.
There was a big party on saturday. It was a blast. Played beer pong, danced, drank too much, walked around Evansville sloppyfooted in a drunken glaze, felt sick in my stomach, and eventually found myself rolling underneath a trailer to get out sight and out of the street. I found out comically the next day that I was completely visible under the trailer from across the street where the house was. I was getting pretty comfortable under the trailer when two good guys that night told me to get out from under it, haha. I walked back to the house feeling a bit more refreshed. My shirt was all slopped up from laying in the grass, Max (I believe) handed me one of his shirts to change into. Good guy. Even though I was feeling physically horrible towards the end of the night, I was having an awesome time.
The next day I felt pretty hung over so I chilled at the house with some of the guys. We got lunch at the crosseyed cricket and watched Django, I really enjoyed it. Later I grabbed my bag from Hicks house, because he was going back home, an hour and a half north in Indiana. I would stay at the frat house for the night.
That night Chase, the president of the fraternity, asked if I wanted to check out some of the local breweries. Chase was very respectable guy who had the leadership of the fraternity thrusted upon him, yet he seemed to handled it with ease. I was down. We went around and tried out tasters with some of the other brothers.
Later me, joe, and Lucas went to go pick up some guitars and jam out at the house. Brandon later joined us. Both Lucas and Brandon were really talented players, me and joe hung in by jamming with wild improve lyrics. Joe sung about the beautiful things about women. We were both pretty buzzed enjoying each others kicks.
I can't thank all the guys enough at TKE in Evansville for showing me an awesome time. With all of their relaxed spirits I was able to feel at home. It was a welcomed break from being on the road. Definitely a huge highlight in my trip!
